STUMPWORX LLC

A prosthetic socket should fit and function
like high tech athletic footwear.
Breathable, adjustable, lightweight, and comfortable.

Most sockets are a bit like a Dutch wood shoe.
A rubber sock doesn't make the comparison any better.

And you wouldn't use Great Grandpa's
climbing harness now, either.
WE'RE RETHINKING EVERYTHING
We started with the harness. Inspired by high tech climbing gear, this harness stays where it needs to, spreads the load out and even gives at the edges so it doesn't dig in, breathes and wicks moisture, and has magnetic hardware you can easily operate with one hand (or fewer). Comes in whatever pattern or color you want, and we won't leave the white thread in and color it with a sharpie.

A LOT HAS CHANGED
Since 1912. Your prosthesis should keep up. Or you should actually think about wearing one for a change. Now you may be thinking, "That's no Star-Wars-Terminator-IronMan arm." And you're right. Because it actually works, doesn't weigh a ton, and you'll want to use it for a change.
The frame has been reduced to only what matters, and the socket is made like a modern athletic shoe upper. It's just as breathable and compliant as the harness where it can be.
IT'S ALL CUSTOM
And we can fine tune any part of it just for you. As a custom central fabricator, we'll work with you and your prosthetist to make sure that it's exactly what you want.
Even if it's going to be a pistol holster instead of a prosthetic harness.

WE ARE NOT YET PRODUCING CUSTOM ITEMS
For clinical use. Stay tuned and we will offer an opportunity to join our mailing list and receive updates on prototyping and our progress in reaching the clinic. These images are actually not our latest, and represent what we presented in two paper sessions at the International Society of Prosthetics and Orthotics in Kobe, Japan in October, 2019. Harness and arm are patent pending.

Oregon is one of 20 states (joined by the District of Columbia) who offer a form of organization--the Benefit Corporation--that allows a business to have values and motives for behavior that can supercede a profit motive in serving their shareholders. In Oregon this is called a Benefit Company. In pursuing the needs of arm amputees and Veteran arm amputees in particular, Stumpworx LLC is proud to seek the innovation in prosthetic arms that has been lacking as a result of the efforts of government, academia and industry. As a requirement of this registration, Stumpworx makes an annual assessment using the B Impact Assessment.
We publish this assessment annually, making the results available here.
